OCD the Dude and Me Lauren Roedy Vaughn Books

Listen, if you've picked up this book expecting a fluffy YA story and read it as such, you've completely missed the story. There is so much more to this story than its classification as a YA story. Is the character a young adult? To be sure. Does she struggle with young adult issues? Of course! It's her day to day struggles, and small triumphs (albeit quirky!) that shape the narrative and deliver a deeply satisfying story of Danielle's transformation as she moves in and through her senior year of high school. The hats, the snow globes, the Chucks, etc., are all strongly indicative of a deeper struggle. Danielle's manifestations of OCD, while funny on the surface, portend a terrible origin. Roedy's format of storytelling, in the form of writing assignments, diary entries, emails to her (awesome) aunt and therapist, and her Me-Moirs are a wonderful way of getting such a great story across. Don't miss that! This story is deeply meaningful and the reader should approach it as such. There's so much here! Read this with great expectation; you won't be disappointed.

OCD the Dude and Me Lauren Roedy Vaughn Books Reviews

I started this book not sure if it’s for teens only or if a mom like me would like it, and I ended up loving this book. Some of Danielle’s school essays and the teacher’s comments made me laugh out loud, and the story just kept getting better and better as Danielle makes her way through the school year. It reminded me of all the angst and the joys that go along with high school and makes me very glad I’m not in school anymore. A fabulous read and I highly recommend it!
There is a core voice in American fiction, and it is that of an adolescent or pre-adolescent boy or girl, told in the first person, from an adult sensibility and intelligence.
It's Huckleberry Finn, Mattie Ross in TRUE GRIT, Scout in TO KILL A MOCKNGBIRD, Holden
Caulfield in CATHER IN THE RYE. Danielle Levine in OCS, THE DUDE AND ME is there with them' engaging, deeply empathetic and funny. This book is acutely observed, radiant with human understanding, and warmly entertaining. Not to be missed.
Loved the essay format. Loved the character development. Loved the humor. A very well written, beautiful story that I enjoyed very much.
On time and a great book, thanks the best VIP
Such a sweet coming of age book. Funny truthful sad and wondrous. You will wish it was longer. I did.
The book is very good, especially for a first time authoress.
The writer is a teacher and knows a lot about high school
students.

Kudos to Laurel Roedy Vaughn!
